This article guides you on adding Unit4 Batch file inputter and Unit4 Report Engine to Excel.

Instructions are for Finance staff mainly.

Find the software

In order to add additional functionality to Excel, there are two additional software downloads that are required:

• Unit4 Batch file inputter x86/x64 (BIF) located in the software centre
• Unit4 Report Engine 9.5.104 - (Excelerator) - (current version as of Jan 2021) 

Windows users

To locate these, you can:

1. go to the additional software icon 
   
   
   or
   
   
2. select the Additional software icon on your desktop
   
   
   
3. Search for Unit4 
    
   
   
4. Select the required software you wish to install
   
   
5. Select install 
   
   
6. The "Installation status" window will appear. At the end of the process, you will see all the application details there. 
    

 

Apple macOS and Linux users

Unit4 Batch file inputter and Unit4 Report Engine to Excel are not available on Apple macOS and Linux at the moment.

If you are an Apple or Linux user, you can:

1. Access the Southampton Virtual Environment (SVE)
2. Open the web version of Excel and find the Unit4 Batch file inputter available

Uninstall the software

If you need to uninstall the software, please read the knowledge base article "How to download software" - section "How to uninstall a software".

Unit4 Report Engine 9.5.104

How to check if installation is correct

1. Open Excel
   
   
2. Select the 'Unit4 Excelerator' menu at the top of the worksheet
   
   
   
3. Select 'Help' to confirm you have the current version installed.
   

 
Add or amend Login URL

After successful installation, please:

1. Open Excel
   
   
2. Select 'Unit4 Excelerator' menu at the top of the worksheet
   
   
3. Select 'Login'.
   
   
4. In the dialog box, enter or complete your login details and select the 'More' button
   
   
   
5. Cut and paste the following URL into the URL box: https://u4bwws.soton.ac.uk/BusinessWorld-reportengine/service.asmx
   
   
6.  Select the 'Login' button
   

Note for first time users

If this is your first time of using this functionality, you will need to raise a ticket to ask the Finance Systems Team to remove the single sign on function from your profile. Alternatively email serviceline@soton.ac.uk.

How to check if installation is correct

1. Open Excel
   
   
2. Select 'Agresso BIF' menu at the top of the worksheet
   
   
   
3. Select 'About' to confirm you have the current version installed
   

 

Note for first time users

If you are new to this function and are required to have access to process BIF's, you will need to undertake training.
