OneDrive - Unable to open files or save files (Windows only)

More like this

Please follow the steps below if experiencing the issues below:

When trying to open files from Onedrive, the Office app such as Word or PowerPoint will just hang on the splash screen

When trying to save an open file to Onedrive, the app (Word etc) will just crash

Close any MS Office application such as Word or PowerPoint

Close OneDrive (Right click on the cloud icon from the task tray and select ‘Close OneDrive’)

In the start menu, type ‘This PC’ and launch.

From here, click on C: (as below) and navigate to Navigate to the location:

C:\Users\USERNAME\AppData\Local\Microsoft

If you cannot see the AppData folder, you will need to enable Hidden Items (see picture below)

Once at the location C:\Users\USERNAME\AppData\Local\Microsoft find the folder call ‘Office’ and rename to Office.old.

Right click on ‘Office’ and select Rename. Once renamed, click off it.

Now re-launch OneDrive and sign in if required.

You should now be able to open files from OneDrive or be able to save files to OneDrive from Word or PowerPoint
