This article guides you solving an issue occurring while running Microsoft Word and EndNote (version 20.1.0) on macOS with Apple silicon M1 / M2.

Some macOS customers using Macbooks with M1 chip could face an error message stating that Word cannot load an add-in. You can fix this issue by setting Word to open with Rosetta.
1. Be sure EndNote and Word are shut down
2. Open Finder and go to the Applications folder:
3. Highlight the Microsoft Word app file by clicking on it only once.
4. Go to the File menu at the top of your screen
5. Select ‘Get Info’
6. Under General, check the option for 'Open using Rosetta':
