Mailbox storage limits in Outlook

This article guides you finding how to find your mailbox storage limits and see how this space is used. 

Mailbox storage limits for students and staff

Students and staff have up to 100 GB (100 gigabytes) of email space in their primary email account.

Staff also have an online archive that has an extra 100 GB of space on their Online Archive.

 

Finding out how much space you have used 

From Outlook Web Access on every browser

1. At the top of the page, select the Settings icon (a cog) close to your profile picture

2. Select "General" from the sidebar on the left 

3. Select "Storage"

4. You can now see how much space you have use

How to clean up space

By using the bin icon close to every folder you can empty all folder's emails or emails older than a specific amount of time.  

 

From the Outlook desktop application on Windows computers

1. Select the File from the top-left corner of the interface

2. Scroll down to the section "Mailbox settings"

How to clean up space

1. Select the "Tool" icon close to "Mailbox settings"

2. From the drop-down menu, select the option that fits better for you between:

  • Mailbox Cleanup
  • Empty Deleted items folder
  • Clean up Old Items
