Removal of Adobe CS6 from university computers

This article explains the reason why iSolutions is removing Adobe Creative Suite 6 (also called Adobe CS6) from Common Learning Space (CLS) workstations over the summer.

We are not currently planning to uninstall it automatically from university-owned computers. However, It is no longer available to install on them.

Please note: if the software is removed (due to a rebuild or other issue, for example), it will not be possible to install it again.

Removal details

Adobe CS6 applications are no longer supported by Adobe and no longer receive security or feature updates.

As a result of potential security vulnerabilities, the University will be removing CS6 from all University devices, starting with CLS in the summer of 2024.

What to do in case you need alternatives

The University installs the latest version of Adobe Acrobat Pro on all CLS and it is available to all staff devices from Software Centre.

The University also installs Corel Graphics Suite (including Corel PaintShop Pro) on all CLS and it is available to all staff devices from Software Centre.

If you require access to Specialist Adobe Applications please raise a ticket through ServiceLine and mark FAO ISOLCON. They will then be in touch to discuss your requirements and support a purchase, which will need to be funded by your faculty/department.
