Yealink MP50 phone - User guide

This article is a quick user guide about the Yealink MP50 phones. The content published in this article comes from the supplier’s manual. The source of the image published in the section "Device's functions" is the same manual.

The article gives an overview of the phone and guides you on doing the following actions:

  • Set up your device to work with Teams
  • Manage calls: basic use, merge two calls, multiple calls handling
  • Change basic and advanced settings

Please note that these handsets are only issued by exception and a business case will need to be submitted to support the request.   

 

Device’s functions

Front and back of the phone. Every button available shows a number related to a note. Notes are explained below the picture.

 

Item Label / name Description
01 Power LED Indicator Indicates the phone status.
02 Touch Screen Allows you to select items and navigate menus on the touch-sensitive screen.
03 HEADSET Key Toggles and indicates the headset mode.
The key LED glows green when headset mode is activated.
04 MUTE Key Toggles and indicates the mute feature.
The key LED glows red when the call is muted.
05 Speakerphone Key Toggles and indicates the hands-free (speakerphone) mode.
The key LED glows green when the hands-free (speakerphone) mode is activated.
06 Keypad Provides the digits and special characters in context-sensitive applications.
07 Speaker Provides hands-free (speakerphone) audio output.
08 Teams Key

Press once to invoke the Teams client in the idle state.

09 Volume Key Adjusts the volume of the handset, headset, and speaker.
10 USB3.0 Port Allows you to connect a USB headset/USB flash drive/Bluetooth dongle BT50

Connecting a Yealink MP50 to a computer

The phone will be connected to your computer by using a USB cable. A technician from iSolutions will take care of the connection during the delivery.

Connecting the phone to your Teams account

The Yealink MP50 uses the Teams client on the computer. This means that the phone will automatically synch with your Teams account.

Manage calls

Basic use

Function Description
Place a new call

1. Tap the dial pad icon dial pad icon

2. Enter the number

3. Select the outgoing dialling device

4. Tap Call

Answer a call Tap This button has the icon of a handset in the middle. The handset is rotated. It allows you to answer a call
End a call Tap Red button with the icon of an upside-down handset. It allows you to end a call
Reject a call Tap Red button with a X in the middle that allow you to reject a call
Hold a call Tap Circled button with the pause icon in the middle
Resume call Tap Resume
Mute or unmute the microphone Tap Icons of a crossed microphone and a microphone free from crosses
Place a new call during a call Tap dial pad icon

 

Merge two calls

You can merge two calls into one conference call when there are two calls on the phone, and one of them is on the connected USB device.

Procedure:

1. Tap Icon with 3 dots in a row and then Merge Calls

2. To split the conference, tap Icon with 3 dots in a row and then Split Conf

 

Multiple calls handling

The phone can accept and handle multiple calls at the same time as follows:

Function Description
End the current call and answer the incoming call Tap Red button with the icon of an upside-down handset. It allows you to end a call and then tap  This button has the icon of a handset in the middle. The handset is rotated. It allows you to answer a call
Put the current call on hold and answer the incoming call Tap This button has the icon of a handset in the middle. The handset is rotated. It allows you to answer a call on the phone
Switch between a held call and an active call Tap Button with the play icon in the middle on the phone
Reject incoming calls, while on a current call Tap Red button with a X in the middle that allow you to reject a call on the phone

 

Transfer a call

1. During a call, press the Transfer icon or the Transfer button on your dial

2. Choose one of the following options:

  • Transfer now
  • Consult first

""

3. Select the desired contact by doing one of the following actions:

  • Look for your contact
  • Type the phone number into the "To:" field
  • Type the name of your contact into the "To:" field

4. Depending on the option you have chosen, there will be the following scenarios:

  • If you have selected Transfer now, the call will be transferred when your contact answers the call.
  • If you have selected Consult first:
    1. Tap the handset icon Handset icon to contact the final users and know whether they are available or not 
    2. Tap the transfer icon Transfer icon beside the contact after the final user answers the call.
      In case you need to resume or take back the call, tap the play icon "" located on the top-right of the screen

Change settings

Basic settings

General settings
Language Select the screen text language from a list of 15 languages.
Bluetooth Enable / disable the Bluetooth.
Time and date

The device time will automatically synchronize with the PC time when you connect the MP50 to the PC.

What to do in case the time does not synchronize with the PC:
1. Check if the USB cable is connected and running on the PC,
2. Set the time manually

Display settings
Backlight Set the backlight active level and backlight time.
Screensaver Change the waiting time for the screen saver.
Teams User Name Configure whether the Teams user name displays on the home screen
when the device disconnects with PC.
• Personal Mode (default): Display the Teams user name when the device disconnects from the PC.
• Hot Desking Mode: Do not display the Teams user name when the device disconnects from the PC
Dark Theme

Turn on / off the dark theme.

The dark theme changes the default bright background colour to a darker colour, which is easier on the eyes in low-light environments or if you prefer less bright screens.

Sound settings
Ring Tones Enable / disable the phone to play a built-in tone while receiving an incoming call.

 

Advanced settings

Tap the Button with the icon of a person in centre button or the user account avatar, and go to Settings > Advanced Settings to access the advanced settings menu.

Calling settings
Auto dial Enable/disable the phone to automatically dial the entered number within 5 seconds.
Call priority Select which call takes priority when a second call is accepted.
New call: The first call is placed on hold and the new call is active.
Current call: The first call is active and the new call is placed on hold.
