An introduction to HPC

More like this

This article will help you to start using the Research HPC facility - Iridis cluster.

First, you need to be authorised to access the system - please refer to the Iridis page on how to apply.

You will also need SSH in order to connect to Iridis - you can read more on how to set it up here.

If you are already familiar with computing clusters, our Batch System Quick Reference Sheet will help you to get started on Iridis.

Please note that there is much more information on our wiki pages (accessible to registered Iridis users), as well as documentation on how to access and use the service. It has information on training courses, background information on the facility, user forums and links to sources of further information.

If you are new to Linux, please familiarise yourself with basic Linux commands first. There is a Knowledge article about Linux - Linux Quick Reference Sheet and also an Online tutorial.

Next, learn about the Iridis batch system using the Batch System Quick Reference Sheet  and Iridis wiki

The best place to discuss Iridis-related questions and issues is the Iridis forum. You may find that another user has already asked your question, and so you might be able to find a solution on the forum.

The current status of the cluster, scheduled system maintenance and any ongoing problems/incidents are reported on the Iridis System Status page
