Office 365 - "We weren't able to register your device and add your account to Windows" error

Under certain circumstances, the initial setup and activation process of Office 365 may ask you if you want to "use this account everywhere on your device". Clicking "Yes" gives an error:

 

The workaround/fix for this is to click the (somewhat hidden) "This App Only" link instead. This has the same effect as clicking "No" would have and does not attempt to enroll your device into the University's Microsoft Azure Mobile Device Management:
