How do I install ArcGis?

ESRI ArcGIS is a geographic information system (GIS) for working with maps and geographic data.

If you are a student:

  • ArcGIS is available on all common learning space PCs in Start>All Programs>Geographic Information Systems.
  • Students can download ArcGIS for use at home by going to www.software.soton.ac.uk. Alternatively, media can be borrowed from the Library.

If you are a member of staff:

  • ArcGIS is available to University desktops and laptops. Please contact ServiceLine with your details to get access.
  • Staff can download ArcGIS for use at home by going to www.software.soton.ac.uk. Alternatively, media can be borrowed from the Library.

Nb. The software can only be used in UK and Ireland unless an overseas form is completed and approved by the supplier

Training for ArcGIS is available via Linkedin Learning:

  • Go to www.go.soton.ac.uk/linkedinlearning and click the 'get started' button
  • Log in with your University username and password
  • You can then search for 'ArcGIS' in the software list
